Doha, Qatar:
The Ministry of Public Health has issued a new circular authorising residents
to use their valid national identification (QID) card instead of the health
card when accessing services at Hamad Medical Corporation, the Primary Health
Care Corporation, and other healthcare facilities across Qatar. The move is
aimed at simplifying procedures and improving access to healthcare services.
The
circular clarified that existing fees for the health card and its annual
renewal will continue to apply. When residents present their QID, their health
number will be verified through the healthcare system, ensuring uninterrupted
access to necessary medical services. Circular No. (10) of 2026 also stipulates
the discontinuation of printing physical health cards for residents.
The ministry
had earlier announced a similar decision in September 2025 for Qatari citizens,
allowing them to use their QID in place of the health card free of charge.
Citizens and residents are advised to carry their QID when visiting health
facilities. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to streamline
administrative processes, standardise official documents, and enhance the
overall patient experience in Qatar’s healthcare sector.
